About Nonto R
Nonto R has been a growing force in the vernacular (Zulu) comedy scene for a few years. In early 2018, she burst onto the English comedy scene by taking first place at ‘Kill OrDie’ (On Fire’s quarterly development platform for up-and-coming comedians) and has been on the rise ever since.
She is the Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy 2023 award-winner (Breakthrough Act of the Year Award & The Joe Mafela Award)
She is a SATMA award-winning comedienne (“Best Indigenous Comedian”, 2016). She was recently nominated in the top 5 of the 2018 Savanna Comics Choice awards(“Best Newcomer”).
She is the creator and driving force behind the popular brand, “Women in Comedy”, showcasing highly talented comediennes from KZN and the rest of the country.
Based in KZN, she not only does solo shows but can be seen performing on some of the biggest comedy stages around, including ‘99% Zulu’, ‘Simphiwe Shembe ComedyConnection’, Justice Kubheka Comedy, as well as an appearance on Mzansi Comedy.
